Thank you for joining us in another year of Rockies Baseball, our 30th anniversary season. Your support does not go unnoticed by anyone inside 20th and Blake, and seasons like this truly show why Rockies fans are the best in baseball.

Clearly, the 2023 season was not what we, or you, wanted. We did not pitch or hit to our potential, and we had our depth tested like never before, using a franchise record 57 total players, 34 pitchers and 17 starting pitchers. We plan to address all of these areas this offseason, specifically our pitching and our pitching depth, with the goal of giving you the team that you want and expect.

Despite the difficulties of this season, there is plenty to be excited about as we head into the offseason:
  • Nolan Jones, who we acquired via trade last offseason, proved that he can be a high-level impact player at the Major League level. In fact, Jones became the first player in Major League history to have 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in a season in which he had fewer than 425 plate appearances. He also set the franchise record with 19 outfield assists, becoming the 10th player in Major League history to have 20 home runs, 20 stolen bases and 19 outfield assists in a season.
  • Brenton Doyle, who made his Major League debut in late-April, was recognized as a Gold Glove Finalist among National League center fielders. Statistically, Doyle was not only the best defensive center fielder, but one of the best defenders at any position in baseball, leading the Major Leagues in Fielding Run Value and in Ultimate Zone Rating.

  • Ezequiel Tovar, who turned 22 years old on August 1, was recognized as one of the best defenders in the league at shortstop when he was named a National League Rawlings Gold Glove Finalist earlier this month. Tovar led all shortstops with a .988 fielding percentage, the highest for a rookie in Major League history, while also recording 37 doubles, tied with Todd Helton for the most by a rookie in franchise history.
  • The Rockies also have one of the best farm systems in baseball, with five Rockies Minor Leaguers ranked inside the top #100 prospects in baseball and a handful of others that are just as deserving.
  • Todd Helton is on the cusp of the Hall of Fame, falling less than three percent short of induction in last year’s voting. We are eagerly awaiting the results of this year’s voting process, which will be announced in mid-January.

Todd Helton waves to the fans

Todd Helton

“I’ve spent the past two seasons roaming our Minor League system, from the lowest level of Rookie Ball in Arizona all the way to Triple-A Albuquerque, and can honestly say that Rockies fans have a lot to look forward to. Nolan Jones, Ezequiel Tovar, Brenton Doyle and Hunter Goodman are just the beginning, with even more talented, exciting players knocking down the door.”
