Earlier this month, Pirates Chairman, Bob Nutting, Pirates Charities and Pirates fans partnered together with Brother's Brother Foundation to help families in need in Ukraine. From April 13-17 all donations made to Pirates Charities, along with all proceeds from the Pirates Charities 50/50 raffle were donated to the Brother's Brother Foundation to support their Humanitarian Aid efforts in Ukraine. In addition to many other relief projects, Brother's Brother Foundation is currently working to get much-needed pediatric medicine to the affected region. The funds raised through Pirates Charities will go towards supporting this much-needed effort. Thank you to all those who donated.

Pirates pitcher David Bednar, alongside the Pirate Parrot, surprised first graders at Mars Primary School on April 27 with baseball equipment, donated by Pirates Charities, for their PE classes to help ensure the students have the chance to play the game of baseball. David Bednar, a Mars graduate, helped run a baseball-themed PE class for the first graders, where he gave some pointers to the students and spoke about what it means to give back to his community.

This year, the Pirates and Major League Baseball honored Veronica's Balloon Design as the Pirates 2022 Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner. Veronica has been a true teammate to our entire organization by delivering exceptional balloon displays that truly enhance the fan experience at our events. Veronica and her family were invited to cheer on the Pirates in the Pirates Charities Suite and received a special in-game award presentation from Pirates President Travis Williams. The award recognizes the sport's Diverse Business Partners who were nominated and selected based on their extraordinary commitment, consistent reliability and incredible passion for their work.

On April 15, 2022, MLB honored the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball. To honor the late Jackie Robinson, teams across the league, including your Pittsburgh Pirates, proudly donned the iconic blue 42 on the backs of their jerseys as they took the field. This symbol of unity reminds us that some things are bigger than baseball. These game-worn authentic jerseys are available for bidding now through May 1 at 5 p.m. ET. Registration is now open for the Pirates Charities Family Walk presented by Allegheny Health Network! As we work to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental health, Pirates Charities invites you and your friends and families to join us and our players, coaches and their families at PNC Park as we walk united in support of mental health initiatives. This unique experience will take participants throughout the best ballpark in America and end on the field to soak in a truly unique and memorable moment together. Following the walk, registrants can join us on the newly enhanced Riverwalk for a carnival-like experience and the chance to engage with local mental health support groups and resources. If you register as a group of four (4) or more, you will receive a $5 discount per registrant! All proceeds from the Family Walk will support Pirates Charities mental health programming and initiatives in our community.
